I have started to put some of my gourd instruments up for sale. They are being sold at Musideum (www.musideum.com) in Toronto . I have 2 banjos there at the moment and a Cora as well.
For a number of reasons, I have decided to put most of my recorded music online as reasonable quality MP3s at no charge. Donations are most welcome and can be made via PayPal. If you would like to make a donation but would prefer not using paypal, please get in touch with me at catherine.fiain@gmail.com.
All funds will go towards putting The Skuld Project in motion. The minimum is set at $2 as anything lower gets pretty much eaten up by paypal fees. Of course, I encourage you to give as generously as you see fit! All contributions will be deeply appreciated and carefully made use of. |
|
You may make audio CDs of the music, put it on an ipod, share it with friends, come back to the page as often as you wish – whatever suits you. The music is all under copyright and registered. Anything other than private use will need permission from me, Catherine Thompson. Some of the music is from work that I have done in the contemporary dance theatre world and cannot be use for any public performance whatsoever without permission after a full discussion with me. If you intend to use the music for any sort of sampling, please let me know.
The Skuld Project section will be musically expanding as the year goes by. My intension is that no CDs will be sold at performances, partly because I will not have space to carry them on horseback and other modes of travel and also because ... NO MORE PLASTIC!!

fiain podCast
Podcasting is a new element that I am exploring. Added intermittently , the podcasts will engage with ideas to do with nomadic living, the place of the dominant culture in connection to the wild world, the need to create a major shift in our place on the earth. Episodes 1 & 2 are up now and can be listened to and downloaded without charge from itunes and from the podcasting service that I am using – gcast.com |
Skuld Project Music
Music in this section is directly related to The Skuld Project. The project is a wide ranging and adventurous endeavour. The intsruments are mostly made by myself with simple hand tools and reflects skuld's journey to find a transition from the domestic to the wild, the constrained to the free. |

dance music
I have been composing for contemporary dance theatre for many years and below you will find a number of examples of recorded tracks as well as info about who choreographed the dances. I am deeply endebted to all of the dance artists involved, many of whom you won't see names below because of space limitations. For me, creating with dance is very much a collaborative art. The music wouldn't exist without all those involved – choreographers, interpreters/dancers, designers etc – if you wish more information on any of the music here please contact me by email |
